Bournemouth have signed forward, Evanilson from FC Porto for a club-record £40m.

Bournemouth last weekend sold Dominic Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record sale of £65m, which allowed them to swoop for Evanilson.

Porto however declined their initial bid for Evanilson but following negotiations, the Portuguese club accepted a £40m total fee, consisting of £31.5m initial fee plus £8.5m in add-ons. with a 10% sell-on clause.

The completion of this deal meant that the 24 year-old is Bournemouth’s club-record signing.

“We are delighted to bring someone with an immense pedigree to AFC Bournemouth,” commented Chief Executive Neill Blake.

“Evanilson is a hugely sought-after striker and for us to bring him to the club in a record-breaking deal shows our ambition and intent.

“Having scored 25 goals last season, including goals in the Champions League, we feel that his experience and ability despite only being 24 will help us to match our ambitions moving forward.

“It’s well known that we were keen on bringing a striker to the football club and for us to complete this deal so quickly is a testament to our recruitment team.”

Evanilson began his career at Brazil’s Fluminense where he scored twice in four appearances, amidst a loan stint at Samorin in 2017.

The Brazilian however decided to join Tombense in December 2019 but never played for the club, as he instead was loaned back to Fluminense for two years where he managed eight goals in 22 appearances.

His loan was cut short in September 2020 after Porto signed him and despite a difficult first season, Evanilson went on to score 60 goals in 154 appearances in all competitions.

Whilst at Porto, he helped them win Taca de Portugal across each of the last three seasons, plus 2021-22 Primeira Liga, 2022-23 Taca da Liga titles and 2022 Portuguese Super Cup.

Evanilson represents Brazil internationally and made his debut in June 2024 in a 3-2 friendly win over Mexico, before he claimed his second cap as a substitute in their Quarter-Final exit to Uruguay at Copa America.
