Middlesbrough FC have launched a shirt exhibition at Dorman Museum until 29 September 2024.
The exhibition will cover multiple Boro shirts from the early days of Victorian-era Britain through to the modern 21st century, covering the Ayresome Park and Riverside Stadium days.
Several Boro icons from Brian Clough to Juninho to Jack Charlton’s 1973-74 Second Division title-winning team, and 2003-04 League Cup winners will also be featured in the exhibition.
Boro have confirmed that exhibits will include a shirt from 1890s, a turnstile and other memorabilia from Ayresome Park, alongside kits of famous legends at the club.
The exhibition will also cover Boro’s UEFA Cup adventures which included their run to the 2006 UEFA Cup Final, and will be held in the upstairs exhibition space at Dorman Museum, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.
Museums Manager at Middlesbrough Council, JR Bowes has welcomed this exhibition, given the intertwining of the club and town’s history over the decades.
“The story of Middlesbrough Football Club is closely intertwined with the history of our town, so it’s fantastic that we can represent the rollercoaster journey of highs and lows at the Dorman Museum.
“The exhibition appeals both to football fans and anyone who has an interest in the social history of Middlesbrough, and we’re looking forward to welcoming a diverse range of audiences over the summer.”
Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Deputy Mayor, Philippa Storey, added that the exhibition showcases the passionate importance of the club to the local community.
“This is fantastic for the Dorman Museum. We know how much the football club means to Middlesbrough and we can’t wait to welcome people from across Teesside and further afield.”
Tickets are available at £3.50 for a single person or can be purchased for £12 as a group of four, and can be purchased online by clicking here.
The exhibition will run throughout the UK school summer holidays and across September, with the last day available being Sunday 29 September to view the exhibition.
