2023-24 Premier League: Week 36 – Brentford vs Fulham

Brentford host Fulham at Gtech Community Stadium in a West-London derby.

Victory would lift Brentford up to 15th if Everton lose on Friday evening, whilst Fulham can go 11th with a win before Wolves and Brighton play later in the weekend.

Neal Maupay could return for Brentford after he was ineligible to feature in last weekend’s defeat at his parent club – Everton.

Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry (both knee) and Ben Mee (ankle) remain absent.

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.

When is Kick-Off?

Brentford meet Fulham at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 4 May at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have won two of their three previous Premier League meetings against Fulham (W2, L1).
  • Fulham lost their sole previous Premier League trip to Brentford by 3-2 result in March 2023.
  • Ivan Toney has scored in each of his last two Brentford appearances against Fulham (W1, L1).
  • Keane Lewis-Potter, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have each hit the woodwork twice for Brentford this season.
  • Fulham have won one of five London derbies on the road this season (W1, D2, L2).

Prediction

Although safety was confirmed less than a hour before they were in action at Everton, Brentford will be disappointed to have not got a draw because they did play well but just lacked the end product and a poor defensive moment was clinically punished.

Fulham meanwhile will be pleased to have taken a point at home to an in-form Palace because they were slightly outplayed despite having scored first, but they are safe anyway so I expect them to be up for this game purely out of pride.

Quite frankly this game is a tough call because it is effectively a dead rubber but there is local pride at stake so I expect a good competitive battle, where a draw might be a fair result.

Prediction: Brentford 1-1 Fulham

Result: Brentford 0-0 Fulham
