Winger, Albert Adomah has confirmed that he will leave QPR at end of 2023-24 season.
Adomah joined QPR on a free transfer following his departure from Nottingham Forest in October 2020, and has gone on to score six goals in 129 appearances across all competitions for the second-tier Hoops.
The 36 year-old though has decided to call time on his stint at Loftus Road and will leave the club after their final-day trip to Coventry on Saturday 4 May.
Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk about his decision to depart, Adomah commented: “It’s been unbelievable, amazing – I get chills when I think about the four seasons I’ve enjoyed here.
During his time at QPR, Adomah achieved a record 525 appearances in the Championship in total, having previously played for Bristol City, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa, Forest and Cardiff in the second-tier.
His 525th appearance came in QPR’s 4-0 victory over Leeds in their final home game of the season last Friday (26 April).
“To end it in the way I have done (breaking the Championship record for appearances) is incredible. It’s a milestone I’ve been waiting to break and to be given the opportunity to do so by the gaffer (Martí Cifuentes) last Friday, in my final home game and in front of the mighty Super Hoops supporters – thank you. Words can’t describe it.
“There are a lot of people I have to thank – not least Mark Warburton for giving me the chance to play for the club I love, all of the other subsequent managers I’ve played under, and of course the supporters.
“Hopefully I can play for one final time in front of you guys up at Coventry but, if not, I just want to say thank you for all of the love and support you’ve given me. It’s been a joy and I can’t wait to come back and cheer the team on with you guys one day.”
Adomah added that his “target” has been to play until he reaches his shirt number – 37, and is hopeful that he can have one or two more seasons playing professionally as he looks to play for a club close to his home in the Midlands.
On why any Midland club should take him on next season, Adomah said: “In all seriousness, though, I believe I still have lots to offer with all my experience. I just want to carry on playing football.”
QPR CEO, Christian Nourry described Adomah as “a model professional who leaves the club with our very best wishes.”
Nourry added: “He has enjoyed an excellent career and fully deserved his record-breaking moment last Friday.
“We thank him for his hard work and being a driving force within the group. Everyone at QPR looks forward to welcoming him back to W12 to support the team.”
