2023-24 Premier League: Week 32 – Brighton vs Arsenal

Brighton continue their fight for European qualification against title-chasing Arsenal at AMEX Stadium.

Victory would put Brighton up to seventh if West Ham and Newcastle both fail to win elsewhere, whilst Arsenal can go top until Sunday evening at minimum with a win.

Ansu Fati and Valentin Barco are both set to return for Brighton after the pair were rested in a scrappy midweek goalless draw at Brentford.

Adam Webster (unspecified), James Milner (thigh), Jack Hinshelwood (foot), Kaoru Mitoma (back), Evan Ferguson (ankle), Billy Gilmour and Solly March (both knee) remain absent.

Arsenal could welcome winger, Bukayo Saka (knock) back into contention subject to late fitness checks after he missed their midweek win over Luton.

Jurrien Timber (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Brighton host Arsenal at AMEX Stadium in a 5:30pm BST kick-off on Saturday 6 April, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Brighton have claimed seven points from their last five league meetings against Arsenal (W2, D1, L2).
  • Arsenal are unbeaten in four of six previous Premier League visits to Brighton (W2, D2, L2).
  • There has been no red cards in 13 previous Premier League meetings between Brighton and Arsenal.
  • Brighton have won one of seven matches broadcast live on Sky Sports this season (W1, D3, L2).
  • Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are looking to keep three clean sheets in the league for the first time since October-November 2022.

Prediction

With a lack of clinical cutting edge and creativity having cost them victory at Brentford despite their dominance on the ball, Brighton now need to take heart from their defensive clean sheet coming into this game where they will have to raise their game and take their chances.

Arsenal meanwhile comfortably dispatched Luton in a clinical first half but there will be disappointment that they couldn’t win by a larger margin, given that goal difference could well be crucial in the title race come the final day but I do expect them to try and dominate this game.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners though could have one eye on their Champions League Quarter-Final home leg against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, but this is their immediate priority and I do expect them to have the quality to win if Brighton are still toothless.

Prediction: Brighton 0-1 Arsenal

Result: Brighton 0-3 Arsenal
