2023-24 Premier League: Week 30 – Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

Nottingham Forest meet Crystal Palace at the City Ground in a huge clash in the race for Premier League survival.

Victory or a draw would see Forest climb out of the relegation zone if Luton lose elsewhere, whilst Palace will stay 14th with a win or draw.

Chris Wood is set to be available for Forest after recovering from a knock suffered in their 1-1 draw at Luton.

Ola Aina (muscle), Gonzalo Montiel (hamstring), Willy Boly (muscle), Taiwo Awoniyi (unspecified) and Nuno Tavares (unspecified) remains absent.

Palace will be without Sam Johnstone for rest of season after he suffered an elbow injury whilst on international duty.

Jeffrey Schlupp (quad) and Matheus Franca (adductor) could feature but Michael Olise, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (both hamstring), Marc Guehi (knee), Rob Holding (ankle) and Cheick Docoure (Achilles) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Forest face Palace at the City Ground on Easter Saturday 30 March at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Forest are yet to lose to Palace in the Premier League after seven previous meetings (W3, D4).
  • Palace are winless in their three previous Premier League visits to Forest (D1, L2).
  • Forest have kept clean sheets in two of their three previous home games against Palace in the Premier League, winning 1-0 on both occasions.
  • Forest have won one of four league matches at home in 2024 (W1, L3).
  • Palace have scored first in their last five league matches (W1, D2, L2).

Prediction

Now sat in the relegation zone, Forest know that this run-in is once again swim-or-sink but to lose Awoniyi again is a huge loss given his goalscoring form, yet Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds just haven’t been good enough defensively which must improve quickly.

Palace meanwhile have a decent gap to the drop but were wasteful last time out in a 1-1 draw at home to Luton, so there is still work to do in their end product but the City Ground hasn’t exactly been a strong place for the Eagles in the Premier League era.

Throw in the tense fight for survival then neither team can afford to drop points here so a draw might be a fair outcome.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Crystal Palace

Result: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Crystal Palace
