Wolves entertain Brighton at Molineux in the Fifth Round of the 2023-24 FA Cup.
Victory would see Wolves reach the Quarter-Finals for the first time since their run to the semi-finals in 2018-19 season.
Brighton meanwhile chase another appearance in the last eight for a second consecutive season.
Team News
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report after their Premier League win over Sheffield United, although manager – Gary O’Neil could rotate his squad.
Matheus Cunha (hamstring) remains ruled out.
Brighton will be without Billy Gimour as the midfielder begins a three-match suspension, following his red card in their 1-1 draw against Brighton.
Danny Welbeck (ankle) is a doubt but Joel Veltman (unspecified) and Evan Ferguson (ankle) are ruled out.
Jack Hinshelwood (foot), Kaoru Mitoma (back), James Milner (thigh), Joao Pedro (hamstring) and Solly March (knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Wolves face Brighton at Molineux on Wednesday 28 February at 7:45pm GMT, live on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wolves won their only previous FA Cup tie against Brighton by a 3-2 result at the Seagulls’ former home – Goldstone Ground in January 1979.
- This is Brighton’s first FA Cup tie away to Wolves at Molineux.
- Wolves won each of their two previous ties against Brighton in all cup competitions by a 3-2 result, albeit away from Molineux.
- Wolves have lost three of their last five FA Cup ties at home to Premier League opposition (W2, L3).
- Five of Brighton’s nine FA Cup goals this season were scored by Joao Pedro.
Prediction
Despite not being at their recent best against Sheffield Utd, Wolves ultimately were clinical but they really could of put more chances away against the top-flight’s most leaky defence, although they can come into this game off the back of two defeats in their last 12 games across all competitions.
Brighton however do have their own work to do in regard to their end product because for all of their dominance against Everton, they were incredibly wasteful and were lucky to snatch a draw so more composure will be required against an in-form team.
Both teams though do have a habit of leaking goals but Brighton do seem to relish recent visits to Molineux with one loss in their last ten trips, yet I do expect this game to be close and go to extra time with Wolves possibly edging it to avoid penalties due to Brighton’s injury crisis.
Prediction: Wolves 2-1 (AET) Brighton
Result: Wolves 1-0 Brighton
