2023-24 Premier League: Week 26 – Manchester United vs Fulham

Manchester United continue their top-four push against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Man Utd will stay sixth in the table regardless of the result – unless they can win by 14 or more goals to leapfrog fifth-placed Tottenham on goal difference.

Fulham will stay 12th in the table with a win regardless of what Bournemouth achieve against Manchester City in the teatime kick-off.

Luke Shaw and Rasmus Højlund are both ruled out for Man Utd after they suffered muscle injuries during Utd’s win at Luton.

Aaron Wan Bissaka (knock), Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia (both knee), Mason Mount (calf) and Anthony Martial (groin) remain sidelined.

Fulham will be without Joao Palhinha as the midfielder begins a two-match ban after he picked up his 10th booking of the season in their loss to Aston Villa.

Kenny Tete (calf), Willian (knock) and Armando Broja (illness) are doubts but Raul Jimenez (calf) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Man Utd host Fulham at 3pm GMT on Saturday 24 February at Old Trafford, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Man Utd are unbeaten in their last 16 league meetings against Fulham (W13, D3).
  • Fulhan are winless in their last 13 league visits to Man Utd (D2, L11).
  • Both teams have scored in their last seven meetings at Old Trafford in all competitions, with Utd scoring 19 goals to Fulham’s nine goals across that period.
  • Four of Rasmus Højlund’s seven league goals for Man Utd have been scored on his right foot.
  • Antonee Robinson has made more clearances than any other Fulham player in the league this season, with 68 clearances in 24 appearances.

Prediction

Currently unbeaten in seven matches across all competitions, Man Utd certainly can come into this game full of belief that a top-four push is on especially after clinically beating Luton with early counter-attack goals, before showing excellent defending to cling on for the win.

Fulham meanwhile are winless in their last 11 league matches on the road and were ruthlessly beaten by a clinical Aston Villa at home last weekend, where they were punished for sloppy possession and marking which they simply can’t afford to replicate here.

In fact I can see Fulham going defensive and try to hit Utd on the counter but I do fancy the Red Devils to comfortably win this game if can play like they’ve done lately, even if they do concede one goal.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Fulham

Result: Manchester United 1-2 Fulham
