Williams have renewed their Mercedes power unit supply contract until the end of 2030 F1 season.
Williams switched from Renault power to Mercedes in 2014 and this contract will see them continue to use Mercedes’ power units until the end of the 2030 season, which would see them spend a total of 17 conscutive seasons together.
“We have enjoyed a long-term partnership with Mercedes-Benz, and we are thrilled to extend this collaboration into the next era of Formula 1,” commented Williams Team Principal, James Vowles who moved from Mercedes at the start of 2023.
Vowles also spoke about Williams’ ambitions matching Mercedes’ support as he continued: “The expertise, support and technology that Mercedes brings to the table align perfectly with our team’s aspirations in the medium and long term.
“This long-term agreement with Mercedes is a positive step and forms part of our objectives for the future, whilst we will still retain our design and manufacturing expertise and capabilities in-house.”
This new deal also sees Williams committed to Mercedes power for F1’s new era of technical regulations, which commences in 2026.
Mercedes’ Team Principal, Toto Wolff is “delighted” to retain Williams as a customer team alongside McLaren, whilst iterating that this move “… importantly not only validates, but reinforces, our overall motorsport strategy.”
As both teams prepare for their 11th season together under Mercedes power, Wolff added: “Since 2014, we have continued to build and develop our relationship with Williams.
“As the team continues to put the foundations in place to challenge at the front of the grid, we look forward to supporting them with our power unit supply.”
