Wolves entertain relegation battling Everton in their final Premier League match of 2023 at Molineux.
Victory would see Wolves climb to 10th if Chelsea fail to win at Luton in the lunchtime kick-off, whilst Everton can potentially move four points clear of the drop with a win if Rob Edwards’ Luton lose earlier in the day.
Team News
Boubacar Traore could return for Wolves after he sat out the Old Gold’s win at Brentford, due to illness.
Craig Dawson (knee) and Hwang Hee-Chan (back) are doubts but Jonny (personal) remains ruled out.
Everton could welcome Ashley Young (knock) and Abdoulaye Doucoure (hamstring) back into contention.
Idrissa Gueye remains sidelined with a calf injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Wolves host Everton at Molineux in a 3pm GMT kick-off on Saturday 30 Deecember, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have avoided defeat in their last five league meetings against Everton (W4, D1).
- Everton have won just one of their last six visits to Molineux (W1, D3, L2).
- Wolves have scored first in four of their last five meetings against Everton.
- Six of Hwang Hee-Chan’s 10 league goals for Wolves this season were scored on his right foot.
- Everton have scored in seven of their last eight away league matches (W5, D1, L2), only failing to do so in their Merseyside derby defeat at Liverpool.
Prediction
Currently in solid form with one defeat in their last five matches and having comfortably dispatched Brentford in a clinical win, Wolves are coming into this match on a wave of confidence but if Hwang is unavailable then they are lacking goalscorers who can step up.
Everton meanwhile have to put their second half collapse against Man City behind them and look to build upon the positives, having been outplayed despite having held a half-time lead so I do expect them to try and play on the front-footed attack like they did at Tottenham last weekend.
Should Sean Dyche’s Toffees do that and Wolves struggle without Hwang’s presence then I can see an away win coming, yet Wolves are in solid form at home and against Everton so I do expect them to try and snatch a draw if not the win.
Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Everton
Result: Wolves 3-0 Everton
