Roundup of festive Premier League action with huge twists at opposite ends of the table.

Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota saw Liverpool beat second bottom Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor to move top of the table.

Tomas Soucek’s strike and Konsantinos Mavropanos’ header saw West Ham stun Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, which dropped Mikel Arteta’s Gunners to second.

Rasmus Højlund’s first league goal fired Manchester United to a 3-2 comeback home win over third-placed Aston Villa, after Alejandro Garnacho’s second-half brace cancelled out first first-half goals from John McGinn and Leandro Dendoncker.

Second half goals from Phil Foden, Julien Alvarez and Bernardo Silva saw Manchester City fight back to win 3-1 at Everton and move up to fourth, after Jack Harrison had fired the Toffees into a half-time lead but Sean Dyche’s men now sit one point below the drop zone.

Down in the relegation zone, late own-goals from Jack Robinson and Anis Ben Silmane saw rock bottom Sheffield United lose 3-2 at home to third bottom Luton, having fought back to lead through Oli McBurnie and Anel Ahmedhodzic after Alfie Doughty put the Hatters ahead at half time.

Nottingham Forest stayed two points clear of the drop and moved up to 16th position after Chris Wood’s comeback hat-trick fired them to a first-ever Premier League win at Newcastle, after the Magpies had led through Alexander Isak’s 23rd minute penalty.

Crystal Palace’s six-point gap above the bottom three was reduced to three points following a 2-1 loss at Chelsea, as Noni Madueke netted a 89th minute winner from the penalty spot after Mykhailo Mudryk’s opening goal was cancelled out by Michael Olise.

Elsewhere, Joao Pedro’s brace saw Brighton beat Tottenham 4-2 in a thriller at the AMEX Stadium, with Jack Hinshelwood and Pervis Estupinan also on target for the hosts despite Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies’ late goals for Spurs.

Hwang Hee-Chan’s brace fired Wolves to a 4-1 win at Brentford with Mario Lemina and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde also on the scoresheet, whilst Yoane Wissa briefly reduced the Bees deficit either side of Hwang’s goals.

Finally, goals from Justin Kluivert, Dominic Solanke and Luis Sinisterra saw Bournemouth thrash Fulham 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
