2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League: Group Stage – Matchweek Three Roundup

Roundup of the third matchweek of Group Stage action in 2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League.

Aston Villa entered this match looking to boost their qualification chances of reaching the knockout stages, whilst Aberdeen found themselves in a must-win battle to keep their own knockout dreams realistically alive.

Now here is all the action from across Groups A-H.

 

Group A

Second half goals from Yusuf Yazici and Remy Cabella saw Lille fight back to defeat Slovan Bratislava 2-1 at home to top Group A, after Aleksandar Cavric had put the Slovenian club ahead at half time.

Rene Joensen, Pall Klettskard and Jakup Andreasen scored as KI hammered Olimpija Ljubljana 3-0 in Torshavn.

 

Group B

Hugo Cupyers scored twice as Gent hammered Breidablik 5-0 to stay top of Group B with Omri Gandelman, Tarik Tissoudali and Gift Orban also on the scoresheet.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s clash against Zorya Luhansk was postponed due to Israel-Hamas war and rescheduled for 23 November.

 

Group C

Tomas Chory’s 69th minute penalty saw Viktoria Plzen scrape a 1-0 away win at Dinamo Zagreb to stay top of Group C.

Abzal Beysebekov struck a 23rd minute winner for Astana away to Ballkani after having led through Kamo Hovhannisyan’s seventh minute opening goal, only for Edvin Kuc to equalise for the host barely a minute later.

 

Group D

Eder Balanta, Andreas Skov Olsen and Hans Vanaken were on target for Group D leaders, Club Brugge in a 3-1 away win at Lugano.

Albert Grønbæk, Faris Moumbagna and Ulrik Saltnes all netted for Bodø/Glimt in a 3-1 home win over Besiktas to move up to second in the group.

 

Group E

Legia Warsaw moved top of Group E with a comeback 2-1 win at Zrinjski Mostar through Blaz Kramer’s 62nd minute winner, after Slobodan Jakovljevic’s own-goal saw them level two minutes after Nemanja Bilbija had put Mostar ahead in the 30th minute.

Aston Villa moved up to second with a ruthless 4-1 win at AZ Alkmaar in which Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans scored before half-time, whilst goals from Ollie Watkins and John McGinn in the space of five second-half minutes wrapped up victory for the Villains.

 

Group F

Lucas Beltran struck twice as Fiorentina hammered Cukaricki 6-0 at home with Nanitamo Kone, Riccardo Sottil, Lucas Martinez Quarta and Maxime Lopez also on the scoresheet.

Ferencvaros slipped to second following a goalless away draw at Genk.

 

Group G

Stefan Schwab netted an injury-time penaty to snatch a dramatic comeback 3-2 win from 2-0 down for Group G leaders, PAOK Salonika away at Aberdeen, after Kiril Despodov and Vieirinha cancelled out Bojan Miovski and Dante Polvara’s early second-half goals.

Eric Dina Ebimbe scored twice as Eintracht Frankfurt smashed HJK 6-0 at home, with Robin Koch, Omar Marmoush, Tuta and Ellyes Skhiri also on the scoresheet.

 

Group H

Michy Batshuayi’s opening effort and Mihi Zajc’s second half brace saw Fenerbahce stay top of Group H with a 3-1 home win over Ludogorets Razgrad.

Goals from Jonas Jensen-Abbew and Christian Rasmussen either side of half time saw FC Nordsjælland win 2-0 away to Spartak Trnava.
