Ipswich consequently slipped to third with a 1-0 win away to second-bottom Sheffield Wednesday, courtesy of Conor Chaplin’s 45th minute strike.
Jack Stacey’s first goal for Norwich saw the Canaries defeat Stoke 1-0 and move up to fourth in the table.
Aaron Connolly’s late strike saw fifth-placed Hull snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Coventry, after Joel Latibeaudiere had headed the Sky Blues into a half-time lead.
Birmingham City rounded out the top six with a 2-0 loss at Watford as Mileta Rajovic and Ryan Andrews scored in injury-time for the Hornets, after Birmingham’s Lee Buchanan had been sent off in the 88th minute for a second booking.

Down in the relegation zone, Matt Crooks’ consolatory goal couldn’t prevent rock-bottom Middlesbrough suffering a 2-1 loss away at Blackburn, as Sammie Szmodics struck twice for the hosts either side of half-time.
Swansea remain third bottom after they fell to a 2-0 loss away to Cardiff in the Welsh derby, as Ollie Tanner and Aaron Ramsay struck for the Bluebirds.
Rotherham slipped to fourth bottom after they suffered a 2-0 loss at Huddersfield, in which Josh Koroma and Sorba Thomas both scored and provided the assist for each other’s goals.

Elsewhere, second half goals from Daniel Ballard and Abdoullah Ba saw Sunderland come from behind to beat QPR 3-1 at Loftus Road, after Jack Clarke cancelled out Kenneth Paal’s opening goal either side of Jack Colback’s red card for the Hoops.
Joel Piroe’s brace and Georginio Rutter’s 15-yard strike saw Leeds clinch a comfortable 3-0 away win at Millwall.
Finally, Bristol City held West Brom to a goalless draw at Ashton Gate.
