Federation Internationale de l’Automobile have confirmed that all ten F1 teams complied with the cost cap in 2022 season.
Last year saw Red Bull, Aston Martin and Williams breach the 2021 cost cap and receive various fines, whilst Red Bull were also handed a 12-month wind tunnel time penalty for their severe breach of the 2021 financial regulations.
FIA have since determined that every team had met the financial regulations in 2022 following review of report documents submitted by each team, in line with the 2022 Full Year Reporting Period which ended on 31 December 2022.
FIA consequently issued every team with a certificate of compliance to all ten constructors with no team facing further disciplinary proceedings, in a marked improvement on last season when only seven teams managed to meet the regulations successfully.
Explaining their review into every team’s documents, the FIA issued the following statement: ‘The review has been an intensive and thorough process, beginning with a detailed analysis of the documentation submitted by the competitors.
‘Additionally, there has been an extensive check of any non-F1 activities undertaken by the teams, which comprised multiple on-site visits to team facilities and careful auditing procedures to assess compliance with the Financial Regulations.
‘The FIA Cost Cap Administration notes that all Competitors acted at all times in a spirit of good faith and cooperation throughout the process.’
FIA also iterated that these ‘Financial Regulations are essential to the long-term financial stability of the sport,’ and will be continuously ‘developed and refined based on the findings of each review process’ in terms of regulations and manner of enforcement and policing.
There will also be ‘significant investments’ within the Financial Regulations to ensure a ‘collective benefit of the sport’ moving forward in coming seasons which is set to see new regulations introduced in 2026 with Audi set to join the grid as a factory team under the Sauber entry.
