Burnley have signe defender, Hannes Delcroix from RSC Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee.

Delcroix’s move reunites him with Vincent Kompany who briefly was his manager in 2019-20 season as well as his teammate, before Kompany eventually became his full-time manager in August 2020 after being re-appointed manager after he chose to retire and end his playing career.

Delcroix went on to score one goal in 37 appearances under Kompany before the Belgian moved to Burnley in June 2022, whilst Delcroix remained with Anderlecht where he scored one goal in 24 appearances last season.

Kompany has now swooped for Delcroix who has signed a three-year contract at Turf Moor until June 2026.

Speaking about his decision to leave Anderlecht for Burnley, Delcroix explained that Burnley first expressed their interest early last week, from which his transfer progressed at a “quick” pace, following discussions with Kompany and both clubs plus his medical last weekend.

Delcroix also iterated that the Premier League is a marked contrast to the Belgian Pro League A, as he commented: “It’s a different competition, the Premier League. Everybody knows it. It’s the best competition in the world at the moment.”

On what it means to get the chance to play in English Foootball, the 24 year-old added: “For me, it’s a big opportunity to come here and it’s a great team. It was not difficult to come here when I got the option.”

Delcroix represents Belgium at international level after moving to the country as a two-year old despite having been born in Haiti, and has one senior cap to his name after he made his debut in November 2020 in a 2-1 win over Switzerland.

Delcroix began his club career with Antwerp and RBC Roosendaal before he eventualy graduated through Anderlecht’s youth academy into the senior team, which saw him make two appearances in 2018-19 season before he was loaned to RKC Waalwijk the following season.
