Midfielder, Michael Olise has signed a new four-year contract at Crystal Palace until June 2027.

Olise joined Palace in July 2021 from Reading and has gone on to produce six goals and 20 assists across 71 appearances in all competitions over the last two seasons.

The 21 year-old also helped Palace reach the semi-finals of 2021-22 FA Cup during his first season at the club. where they lost to eventual runners-up, Chelsea at Wembley Stadium, London, in his first season at the club.

His performances ultimately saw Chelsea decide to activate his £35m release clause in recent days but Olise decided to snub a move to his former youth team, in favour of a fresh four-year contract until June 2027 at Selhurst Park.

Speaking about Olise’s decision to sign a new contract and snub the temptation of a move to Chelsea, Chairman – Steve Parish uploaded a post onto X (formerly Twitter).

Manager, Roy Hodgson added that Olise’s decision to commit his future to the club is “the best possible news we could have.”

Hodgson also confessed to his fear that Olise could of gone to Chelsea as he explained: “I had been concerned – it’s always concerning when a club of Chelsea’s stature take interest in a player, and people will suggest that a move to them might be the best bet.

“I had always hoped that wouldn’t be the case and that Michael would realise that at such a young age his future here is very bright, and we can help him move very quickly on to another level.”

Hodgson added that he is “delighted” that Paris was able to persuade Olise that “this is your place and this is where we think you will progress in the right way and develop in the right way.”

Olise is currently out injured after he needed surgery on a torn hamstring, which he suffered whilst on international duty, representing France Under-21s at this summer’s UEFA Euro U21s Championship which was ultimately won by England.
