Defender, Michael Kayode has committed his future to Brentford with a new six-year contract plus one-year option.

Kayode joined the Bees from Fiorentina on an initial loan in January 2025 and made 12 appearances by the end of the 2024-25 season, which saw him complete a permanent transfer last summer despite Thomas Frank’s departure as Head Coach.

Kayode subsequently produced one goal in 44 appearances last season under new Head Coach, Keith Andrews as Brentford narrowly missed out on European qualification on the final day of the Premier League season.

Brentford consequently have swooped to tie down the 21 year-old Italian with a new six-year contract until June 2032, with a club option to extend for a further year to June 2033.

Andrews welcomed the new contract for Kayode as he praised the defender for his development at the club.

“Michael had an amazing season last year. “He epitomised everything good that we do. His development and evolution has been really, really impressive.

“Michael’s someone that we love working with every single day, who comes in with such an enthusiastic demeanour, and is a joy to be around and to coach.

“We’re absolutely delighted that he wants to stay because we love having him here, and this new contract is absolutely deserved.”
