Forward, Anass Zaroury has signed a fresh five-year contract at Burnley until June 2028.
Zaroury joined Vincent Kompany’s Clarets from Charleroi last summer and played a huge role in their automatic promotion from the Championship to Premier League as champions, during which he scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances.
He also received his maiden international call-up for Morocco for the 2022 FIFA World Cup last November, which saw him make his debut in a 3-0 warm-up friendly win over Georgia, before he went on to make his World Cup bow in the Third-Place Play-Off as the Moroccans finished fourth.
Zaroury has since made two further appearances for Morocco which came in a goalless draw against Peru and 2-1 loss to South Africa in Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying.
Speaking with pride at extending his stay at Turf Moor, Zaroury commented: “First of all, I would like to say since I came here, I got confidence from everyone at the Club and it directly felt like home. Now to extend my contract is really positive and I’m just really pleased.
“Last season was the best season so far for me, for all of us here. It’s a great group of players, staff and we all work together to succeed.”
Looking ahead to his first Premier League campaign, Zaroury added: “I’m really excited for this season ahead; every game is massive for us. I’ve really missed the fans at Turf Moor and I will see them all in one week.”
