Sunderland have signed midfielder, Bradley Dack on a free transfer.
Dack left Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season which ended his six-year spell at Ewood Park, during which he scored 57 goals and created 34 assists in 173 appearances.
36 of Dack’s 57 goals came during his first two seasons at Blackburn when he scored 18 goals en-route to promotion from League One in 2017-18 season, before he netted a further 18 goals the following season as Rovers consolidated their return to the second-tier.
His move now reunites Dack with current Sunderland manager, Tony Mowbray who was in charge for five of Dack’s six seasons at Blackburn.
Dack has signed an initial one-year contract with Sunderland holding an option to extend for a further 12 months.
Speaking about his decision to join Sunderland who reached the Championship Play-Offs last season, Dack commented: “It feels brilliant to be here. It’s clear to see the Club is on an upwards trajectory and it’s great to be on board.
“To play in front of 40,000 people every week at the Stadium of Light was a huge pull for me, there’s not many teams in England can produce those numbers.
“I hope my experience and style of play can add something different to the group, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt for the first time.”
Sunderland’s Sporting Director, Kristjaan Speakman added that the Black Cats “are delighted” to sign Dack, who has “different qualities to others we have within the squad,” which Speakman hopes will provide “a different dimension” in terms of tactical options for Mowbray.
Speakman also spoke about how Dack can use his personality to help motivate the club to new heights as he added: “He brings a wealth of experience, but also a personality that can help us on and off the field.”
Dack could make his competitive debut for Sunderland at home against Ipswich Town on Sunday 6 August, live on Sky Sports in a 5pm BST kick-off.
