Leicester have signed goalkeeper, Mads Hermansen from Brøndby for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Hermansen joins the Foxes after making 70 senior appearances for Brøndby across the last three seasons, with the 23 year-old Danish international signing a five-year contract at the King Power Stadium until June 2028.

Speaking about his decision to join Leicester who drop back into the Championship for the first time in a decade, Hermansen commented: “I’m very, very proud to be here. It’s a big moment for me and my family and I’m very happy. I’m really looking forward to getting started. Leicester is a very big club. It has so much potential.

“I’ve played two full seasons for Brøndby. I think I developed in a very good way and I’m looking forward to taking the next steps with Leicester. I really like to be on the ball. I like to play and be, as much as I can, in the game.”

Hermansen made just one appearance as Brøndby won 2020-21 Danish Superliga but has since been their first-choice goalkeeper with 69 appearances in the last two seasons, during which he made 11 appearances for the club across all three UEFA competitions.

The 23 year-old also spoke of their unexpected Premier League title in 2015-16 season being inspirational for him, as he added: “Leicester is a very big club. It has so much potential. The [Premier League winning] season, of course, stands out for me.

“I’ve always followed the Premier League so, for me, that was a great season for the Club. I really felt inspired during that season because that was a real team.”

Hermansen also had held discussions with ex Leicester goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel plus his current teammates – Daniel Iversen and Victor Kristiansen, as he explained: “I talk to them both. They’re very nice guys. They’re in the national team and they only have positive things to say about the Club.

“It’s always nice to have someone to go to. I know Victor very well as well. It’s very nice for me.”

Hermansen will also link up with fellow Denmark international, Jannik Vestergaard, although Vestergaard is reportedly set to be sold during this summer’s transfer window.

Hermansen could make his competitive debut for Leicester at home to Coventry on Sunday 6 August live on Sky Sports in a 12pm BST kick-off, alongside various new signings including; Harry Winks and Callum Doyle.
