F1 have unveiled a 24-race calendar for 2024 season featuring three Saturday races.
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will once again open the season for a third consecutive campaign, although both race weekends will be ran Thursday – Saturday due to Ramadan starting on 10 March.
Las Vegas Grand Prix will also run Thursday to Saturday across 21-23 November due to its geographical time zone, which meant that a Sunday night race local time would be held on a Monday across Europe, Asia and Oceania regions.
The Las Vegas GP also forms part of one of three triple-headers across the season, as it kick-starts the final three races of the season, followed by Qatar from 29 November – 1 December and the season climaxing Abu Dhabi GP across weekend of 6-8 December.
Spain, Austria and Great Britain will form the first triple-header of next season with races scheduled across weekends of 21-23, 28-30 June and 5-7 July respectively.
USA, Mexico and Brazilian Grands Prix have also been grouped together across weekends of 18-20, 25-27 October and 1-3 November.
Japan meanwhile has been brought forward to 5-7 April followed by the return of Chinese Grand Prix on the weekend of 19 – 21 April, having not featured on the calendar since 2019.
Azerbaijan subsequently has moved to a new slot of 13-15 September which would be the latest that F1 have gone to Baku, with previous visits having been held in April and June respectively over the years.
F1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali is “delighted” with the 24-race calendar, which has been designed to be “more sustainable” with races regionalised per continent across certain periods of the season.
Climatic and contractual restraints however meant not all races could be grouped together hence why Miami and Canada are held in May and June respectively, separate from the main Americas section of the season.
