Hull City have signed forward, Liam Delap on a season-long loan from Manchester City for 2023-24 season.

Delap spent last season on loan at Stoke City then Preston North End where he managed four goals in 38 appearances across both clubs.

Man City have consequently decided to send the 20 year-old back out on loan to a Championship club, with Delap heading to Hull for the season.

Hull’s Head Coach, Liam Rosenior explained that he is “absolutely delighted” to sign Delap after having “fought off a lot of competition from other Championship clubs and clubs around Europe.”

Rosenior added that he had been aware of Delap for an extensive period of time and has followed the 20 year-old’s career progress for a while, following Delap’s move to City from Derby in Summer 2019 just as Rosenior took up a coaching role with the Rams.

The ex Hull player turned manager went on to iterate that Delap can add needed attacking quality, as he commented: “Liam completely fits into the way we play. He’s got outstanding physical attributes and is a great finisher.

“He’s got freak speed, is aggressive and can run in behind, which is one of the areas we wanted to address. He’s someone the fans will really enjoy watching.”

Rosenior also praised City for their nurting of Delap’s talent but iterated that he needs the right environment to strive, as he added: “He’s had an amazing education and upbringing at Manchester City.

“In the right team that plays to his strengths, he can be a real asset and I believe he’ll be a real asset for us moving forward.”

Delap could make his competitive debut for Hull away to Norwich City at Carrow Road on 5 August in a 3pm BST kick-off, with his home debut possibly set to take place on Tuesday 8 August against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
