West Ham manager, David Moyes has revealed that the club’s Europea Conference League success didn’t sink in until “back to the East End of London”.

In a campaign where the Hammers had gone unbeaten in Europe with 13 wins from 14 matches prior to the Final, Jarrod Bowen’s 90th minute winner secured a first European title for the Hammers since 1964-65 season with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in Prague, Czech Republic.

Manager, Moyes however admitted to www.whufc.com after the trophy parade on Thursday (8 June) that the success took ages to sink in, as he explained: “I had about three hours’ sleep but that’s only because the bar shut in the hotel very early when we wanted it to be open much longer!

“For me, the thing about it, being a football manager, in the football industry, the majority of weeks you go home disappointed because your team hasn’t won, so to actually get to the final of a European competition and win it was massive.

“It sunk in for me when we got back to the East End of London tonight and saw the supporters on the streets. It was incredible.”

Moyes proceeded to praise supporters for their support in Prague and East London, as he added: “West Ham is a huge football club with huge support in East London and the proof of that is tonight.

“There were thousands of supporters on the streets tonight and the support we had last night in Prague was unbelievable.”

Amidst speculation over his future, Moyes now has his eyes on making further “progress” and building on their “massive” achievement in Europe.

“It’s very hard to compete at the top end every season, but all you can do is try to do your best every season and that’s what we do, and next season that’s what we’ll do,” continued Moyes.

The ex Everton and Manchester United boss also expressed his wish that he wants the Hammers to remain within European competitions, “especially when some big clubs are involved in them in them and didn’t win them,” against smaller teams like West Ham.
