Brentford Head Coach, Thomas Frank believes “anything is possible” in the club’s chase of UEFA Europa Conference League qualification.

Brentford currently sit ninth just two points behind Aston Villa who currently occupy the final European qualification spot in seventh, whilst Tottenham are sat eighth in-between the pair by just one point either side.

Frank’s Bees therefore must beat reigning champions – Manchester City to achieve the league double over Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens, and hope that Villa and Spurs both fail to win elsewhere if the West London club is to snatch an unlikely Europa Conference League spot.

“I’m a big dreamer, I’m a big believer. I believe that everything is possible football in football,” commented Frank on the possibility of achieving European qualification in just Brentford’s second season in the Premier League.

The Dane proceeded to admit that he had set a top-ten finish as the club’s target at start of this season, as he continued: “Every season is a new opportunity to achieve something big. I had a big belief that we would get top ten this season, a big belief.

“I am so pleased that we are in the mix and have a chance – we now just need to beat the best team in the world!”

Frank also revealed that he expects Man City to do the treble, as he added: “I’m pretty sure they will win the FA Cup and the Champions League. They have two difficult games against Manchester United and Inter Milan but, if they hit their highest level, I think they have a good chance of doing that.”

Returning to the immediate task of beating City, Frank iterated that victory is a tough ask but doable as he commented: “It’s a massive, massive mountain ahead of us. But, at home, with this group of players, I think anything is possible.”

On how his squad will handle the game amidst the chance of European qualifcation, Frank stated: “I’ve just mentioned that we have an opportunity to get into Europe and we know that the biggest, biggest thing that we need to get ticked is to beat the best team in the world, which is very difficult.

“We’re only focusing on that and then we’ll see if the results go our way.”

This match is also Brentford’s final game of the season and despite still having a shot at Europe, Frank wants the match “to be a celebration of football,” at home to “the best team in the world,” having enjoyed a “fantastic season,” which he wants to finish “off in style.”
