Wolves are heading to South Korea as part of 2023-24 pre-season tour.
Wolves’ trip to South Korea marks the first time that the club will play in the country as part of expansion plans to connect with their global fans.
Julen Lopetegui’s Old Gold will play Celtic on Wednesday 26 July at Suwon World Cup Stadium, before meeting AS Roma at Incheon Asiad Stadium on 29 July, with both friendlies kicking off at 8pm local time broadcast live on Wolves TV.
Wolves’ general manager of marketing and commercial growth, Russell Jones said that the club is “absolutely delighted” to be visiting South Korea in pre-season.
Explaining the decision behind choosing to visit South Korea in pre-season, Jones added: “South Korea is a key market for us and there has been significant fan growth there since the arrival of Hee Chan Hwang in 2021, with a big spike in interest in Wolves from the public, media and football fans alike.
“Over the last two years we have introduced local language social media channels and retail lines to support the new interest in South Korea, and we are really looking forward to meeting and engaging with our Asian fans in person this summer and learning and celebrating Korean culture.”
Wolves forward and South Korea international, Hwang Hee-Chan added that he is “very excited” to take his club to his homeland this summer, which he described as “a beautiful country, with incredible people, culture, food and history,” with a passionate football fan base.
On what it means to introduce his teammates to South Korean fans, Hwang added: “It is an honour for me to travel to Korea with my team Wolves, I look forward to introducing my teammates and staff at the club to the passionate Korean football fans of Incheon, Suwon and from all across the country.”
Wolves will also provide supporter travel packages covering travel on the official plane alongside players and staff, plus match tickets, access to training and hotel accommodation.
