Williams have announced that F3 driver, Luke Browning has joined their young driver academy.

Williams’ decision to sign Browning comes as the 21 year-old Brit sits 10th in the drivers’ standings for Hitech GP, having scored 14 points across the opening four races in Bahrain and Australia of this season’s F3 championship.

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of the Williams Racing Driver Academy,” commented Browning following confirmation of his decision to join Williams’ driver academy.

Browning proceeded to thank Williams for welcoming him into the “phenomenal” team as “a dream come true,” whilst providing him with an “opportunity to shoot for the stars.”

Williams’ Sporting Director, Sven Smeets added that the team are “pleased” to sign Browning who has previously won British F4 and GB3 in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Browning’s GB3 success also meant that he is the second consecutive GB3 champion to join Williams’ Academy, alongside Zak O’Sullivan who joined the team in February 2022.

Explaining why the team have swooped for Browning after a period of tracking his progress, Smeets described the Brit as “a highly talented driver” who has also won 2022 Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award aside his GB3 and British F4 successes.

Browning will receive support from experts as he continues to adapt to F3 and will conduct simulator work for Williams’ F1 Team at their Grove-based factory, where he can “develop his abilities while providing useful feedback” for the team.

Williams’ Driver Academy now compromises of four F3 drivers with Browning and O’Sullivan competing alongside Franco Colapinto and Oliver Gray in the series, whilst Jamie Chadwick is racing in Indy NXT.
