PHM Racing by Charouz has recruited Roberto Faria as part of their driver line-up for 2023 FIA F3 season.

Faria previously participated in F3’s post-season test in September 2022 with ART GP on days two and three, in which he finished 26th in overall classification across both days but has now signed for Charouz.

“I’m really delighted to join PHM Racing by Charouz in the FIA Formula 3 on their new project,” commented Faria, who has finished fifth in each of the last two seasons in GB3 although his sole win in the category came in 2021.

On what it is like to make the step up to F3, Faria added: “It feels like a dream coming true. Even without knowing most of the circuits in the calendar I’ll do my best to deliver great results and to show the team why they have put their trust in me. I cannot wait to start racing in Bahrain.“

PHM Racing Team Manager, Roland Rehfeld meanwhile described Faria as “one of these young passionate Brazilian talents with raw speed, ambition and demanding focus.”

Rehfeld though iterated that Faria needs to adapt his “working attitude” in order to “succeed” in the category, especially after a promising post-season test so has urged a “balance of speed and patience” in order for Faria to achieve strong results this season.

Faria will partner Sophia Floersch who is returning to F3 after a two-season absence, with the German “really excited and very happy” to make her return to the series and resume her goal of racing “with the best of the best.”

Rehfeld added that there is “lots of respect” for Floersch’s decision to return to F3 and utilise her racing experience plus “professional attitute and working style.”

PHM Racing by Charouz hours later confirmed that Poland’s Piotr Wisnicki will step up from Formula Regional European Championship to complete their driver line-up.

“I am very happy that as a rookie I will be able to compete in such a strong F3 field together with PHM Racing,” commented Wisnicki.

Wisnicki went on to add: “It’s a huge step in my career, and it’s going to require a lot of looks and work from me. I would like to thank everyone at PHM Racing for the opportunity that will allow me to appear in this series”

Pre-season testing will take place in Sakhir, Bahrain from 14-16 February 2023, with the season commencing across weekend of 3-5 March.
