Jehan Daruvala has joined reigning teams’ champion, MP Motorsport for 2023 FIA F2 season.

Daruvala has recently been dropped from Red Bull’s Junior Team but will stay in F2 for a fourth consecutive season, as he moves across from PREMA to MP Motorsport in a reunion with Dennis Hauger – who has also moved across from PREMA after the pair won three races together in 2022.

“I’m really pleased to be back in FIA Formula 2, and to be able to team up with MP Motorsport makes it extra special”, commented Daruvala as he looks to mount a title challenge in order to renew his F1 dreams after being dropped by Red Bull.

The 24 year-old Indian also acknowledged MP Motorsport’s stunning success last season with eventual champion, Felipe Drugovich, as he admitted that he was “stunned” by their “remarkably consistent front-running pace,” with view of achieving that performance himself this season.

Daruvala also is happy to be back alongside Hauger despite change of team as he added: “Together with Dennis, I’m confident that our combined experience and speed will contribute to MP fighting for wins once again.”

MP Motorsport Team Principal, Sander Dorsman meanwhile is “delighted” to sign “a consistent frontrunner” in Daruvala who has won at least one race in each of his three previous F2 campaigns.

Dorsman also believes that Daruvala will help the team fight for the title once again as he added: “His experience will be of great value to the team, so we are very much aiming for a repeat of last year’s form.

“Also, matching him up with Dennis will allow us to build on a smooth cooperation between teammates who already know each other well. With such a strong driver pairing for 2023, I can’t wait to go racing!”

Across his time in F2, Daruvala has already claimed four race victories and 11 further podiums in spells with Carlin and PREMA.
