2022 EuroFormula champion, Oliver Goethe has joined Trident for the 2023 FIA F3 season.
Goethe’s full-time graduation to F3 comes after he dominated 2022 EuroFormula with 11 race victories and seven further podiums to comfortably claim the title, in a campaign where he finished every race within the top six.
The dual Danish-German 18 year-old also participated in four races in F3 this season as a replacement driver for Campos in Hungary and Belgium, during which he claimed 15 points in total courtesy of an eighth-placed finish in Hungarian Sprint then fourth place in the Belgian Feature Race.
Goethe also drove for Trident during the F3 post-season test, where he made huge progress across all three days of running in which he finished second-fastest on the final day, albeit 0.043 seconds slower than Franco Colapinto.
His performance consequently have seen Trident swoop for the youngster following a period of negotiations, with Goethe “delighted” to secure a full move up to F3, following the test which he stated was “a fantastic experience.”
Goethe also noted Trident’s professionalism and proven F3 record as he commented: “They are all very professional and have done a great job in the championship. I’m sure we’ll be able to get great results together and I can’t wait to start the season.”
The 18 year-old also paid tribute to his sponsors and parents as he added: “I also wanted to thank my sponsors and partners for their support and for always being by my side even in this step forward in my career.”
Trident Team Principal, Giacomo Ricci added that Goethe has proven himself as “a promising driver” and is “extremely proud” to add him to their F3 driver line-up, alongside Gabriel Bortoleto who has already been confirmed for next season.
Explaining why Trident have decided to sign Goethe, Ricci commented: “We were impressed by his debut in the category last season and the good work done with our technical staff by the German-Danish driver during the postseason test in Jerez last September.”
