Brazil’s Gabriel Bortoleto has been confirmed as Trident’s first driver for 2023 F3 season.
Bortoleto last week tested for Trident at the F3 post-season test during which he finished fastest on Day Two with the quickest overall time across the three-day test, which has led Trident to sign the 17 year-old Brazilian for next season.
“I am extremely delighted for the chance to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship with a high-level team like Trident Motorsport,” commented Bortoleto who is currently competing in Formula Regional European Championship where he sits sixth in the standings with one win.
Bortoleto proceeded to “thank” Trident for their support during the test as he added: “I would like to thank every member of the team for the warm welcome I have been given. I feel ready for a new chapter in my career and to move to a higher series in single-seaters.
“I will put my best effort to make the most of this great opportunity.”
Bortoleto began his single-seater career in 2020 as he finished fifth in Italian F4 with one win and four further podium finishes.
Trident Team Manager, Giacomo Ricci added that the team “are proud” to sign Bortoleto who he has described as “a promising driver” for next season, having monitored his “impressive results” across his karting era and in Formula Regional European Championship since last season
Ricci also iterated that Bortoleto will receive full support from the team to enable him to demonstrate his talent, as he added: “We are sure that by joining the Trident Motorsport family, Gabriel will receive solid support from every team member and prove his value and qualities.”
Bortoleto is the first driver to be officially confirmed for 2023 F3 season, which is set to see the addition of Australia to the race calendar, which will take place from 31 March – 2 April as F3 heads Down Under for the first time alongside F2 to support the Australian Grand Prix.
