BBC and ITV will both broadcast two Second Round picks of 2022-23 FA Cup apiece in respective double-headers on 26 and 27 November.
The reduced broadcast selection for this round is due to logistical broadcasting conflicts with BBC and ITV’s coverage of 2022 FIFA World Cup, with both broadcasters set to air four World Cup matches across the same weekend.
BBC though will have just one World Cup match on 26 November at 10am, meaning that the broadcaster have opted to follow Tunisia’s Group D clash against Australia with a FA Cup double-header across the afternoon.
King’s Lynn Town’s clash against League Two’s Stevenage at The Walks will air on BBC One with kick-off confirmed for 12:45pm GMT, as the National League North club aim to cause a cupset and reach the Third Round for the first-ever time.
Seventh-tier Alvechurch will then make the trip to The New Lawn Stadium to face Forest Green Rovers at 3pm GMT on 26 November, also live on BBC One in a rare Second Round double-header for the UK flagship broadcaster.
This scheduling decision also makes Forest Green’s clash against Alvechurch the first FA Cup match at 3pm on a regular Saturday afternoon to be broadcast live in decades – outside of Finals and the Coronavirus pandemic when BBC Red Button aired selected matches.
ITV meanwhile will air a double-header on Sunday 27 November, beginning with Ebssfleet United’s tricky home tie against League One’s Fleetwood Town at Stonebridge Road in a 12:30pm GMT kick-off.
Newport then will host Derby at 3:15pm GMT in the concluding tie of the Second Round, after the Rams defeated Torquay in their First Round Replay to secure a trip to Rodney Parade.
ITV consequently will only use two of their permitted four picks at this stage, having used three of their four contractual picks in the First Round.
