English Football League (EFL) have confirmed details for the Third Round of 2022-23 Carabao Cup.
Sky will televise two matches from this round as is normal across the opening five rounds of the competition in recent seasons – withstanding additional picks during 2020-21 season due to matches behind-closed-doors.
Sky’s first televised pick will see Manchester City host last season’s runners-up, Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 9 November at 8pm GMT, amongst seven matches taking place that evening – including Liverpool’s start of their title defence against Derby County at Anfield.
Liverpool though are yet to confirm a kick-off for their clash against Derby and likewise for Arsenal who haven’t decided upon a kick-off time for their home clash against Brighton, despite both clubs definitely playing on 9 November due to being in league action on Sunday 6 November.
Manchester United’s home clash against Aston Villa has been moved to Thursday 10 November due to the fact that both Manchester based clubs are at home, with the tie also selected for live broadcast on Sky Sports in a 8pm GMT kick-off at Old Trafford.
The Third Round though will be played across three evenings from 8-10 November with eight untelevised matches being played on Tuesday 8 November at 7:45pm GMT, including two all Premier League encounters as Bournemouth and Wolves host Everton and Leeds United respectively.
Other stand-out matches being contested on 8 November includes League Two’s Newport County and Gillingham visiting Leicester and Brentford respectively.
