England have been handed a kind draw in the Group Stage of 2022 FIFA World Cup, which includes a potential blockbuster final group match against Wales or Scotland if either qualify.

Having automatically qualified for the tournament after topping their UEFA Qualifying group, England were drawn into Group B after being the second team drawn out in Pot One behind Qatar who are automatically designated Group A as hosts.

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions will therefore face Iran, USA and the winner of the last outstanding UEFA play-off involving Wales and the winner of Scotland’s semi-final against Ukraine in Group B.

England will commence their tournament against Iran on 21 November before facing USA on 25 November, ahead of a potentially crunch home nations showdown against Wales or Scotland on 29 November if either qualify.

Reigning champions, France will kick off their title defence in Group D where they will play Australia plus Denmark and Tunisia, although this is the second consecutive World Cup that France and Denmark share the same group with Australia but France and Denmark advanced from their group in the 2018 edition.

Hosts, Qatar will commence their first-ever World Cup in Group A where they will face Ecuador, Senegal and Netherlands.

2010 and 2014 champions, Spain and Germany were drawn together in a blockbuster Group E alongside Japan and Costa Rica who beat New Zealand in their Inter-Continental Play-Off.

2018 third-placed finishers, Belgium will face Canada, Morocco and 2018 runners-up, Croatia in Group F

Five-time champions, Brazil will be in Group G where they face Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon, although Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland were all together in the same group in 2018.

Two-time champions, Argentina will play in Group C alongside Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland, which could mean a repeat Round of 16 meeting with France if they finish second and the reigning champions top Group D.

Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and Korea Republic will all compete against each other in Group H.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will commence on Monday 21 November with the Final set for Sunday 18 December, with matches played at eight stadiums throughout the tournament.
