Hitech GP have signed Nazim Azman to complete their three driver line-up for 2022 F3 season.
Azman’s move up to F3 comes after he enjoyed a strong 2021 EuroFormula season in which he finished fourth overall with one race victory and six further podium finishes.
Azman who hails from Malaysia previously began his single-seater career in August 2016 as he participated in that season’s F4 SEA, before racing for MP Motorsport in F4 Spain across 2017 & 18 seasons plus 2017 SMP F4.
2018 saw Azman also participate in Italian F4 with Jenzer before spending 2019 & 20 seasons in British F3 where he took four wins and six further podiums.
Azman also participated in the 2021 F3 Post-Season Test as he drove for Jenzer and Charouz.
Speaking about his decision to graduate to F3, Azman said: that he is “really excited” to join the series and believes that Hitech GP is the perfect team to provide “the perfect platform from which to focus on racing against some of the best young talent in the world.”
The 20 year-old also spoke of his excitement at racing in Bahrain in the season opener across weekend of 18-20 March and the chance to visit some of Europe’s “most iconic” circuits throughout the season.
Azman however is wary of the fact that F3 marks a huge graduation up the junior ladder of motorsport as he added: “I can’t deny that this is a big step up for me but, having raced — and won — in both the British and EuroFormula Open series, I believe that I am ready for the challenge.”
Hitech GP’s F3 Team Manager, Jay Davenport added that the team are “delighted” to have Azman complete their driver line-up alongside Isack Hadjar and Kaylen Frederick for this season.
Davenport also iterated Azman’s “competitive track record” with five wins across British F3 and EuroFormula in last three seasons, as one factor behind their decision to sign him for the season as Hitech GP vow to provide a race car package to enable him to fight for wins.
