Manchester City extended their title lead in the latest round of Premier League action.

Phil Foden extended Man City’s lead in the title race to six points over Liverpool, after firing in a 82nd minute winner from Bernardo Silva’s deflected cross amidst controversy as Everton were denied a late penalty following a handball from Rodri.

Liverpool and Chelsea who both sit second and third respectively weren’t in league action this match week, as they instead battled hard in the 2021-22 Carabao Cup Final at Wembley, which Liverpool won 11-10 on penalties after a goalless draw following extra time.

Manchester United continue to sit fourth but stuttered their way to a goalless draw against second-bottom Watford at Old Trafford.

West Ham climbed to fifth with a 1-0 home win over Wolves on Super Sunday, as Tomas Soucek poked in a 59th minute winner from Michail Antonio’s cross.

Down in the relegation zone, Norwich remain rock-bottom following a 2-0 defeat in Friday Night Football at Southampton, as Che Adams and Oriol Romeu struck late in both halves for the hosts.

Burnley moved to within a point of safety following a 1-1 comeback draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday, only to then suffer a late defeat in a rearranged midweek clash against Leicester as James Maddison and Jamie Vardy struck late for the Foxes.

Elsewhere, Leeds sacked Marcelo Bielsa following a disastrous 4-0 home loss against seventh-placed Tottenham, in which Harry Kane and Son Heung-min made history as the Premier League’s most effective attacking partnership as Kane assisted Son for Spurs’ fourth goal.

Christian Eriksen endured a miserable Brentford debut eight months after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, as ten-men Brentford lost 2-0 to Newcastle with Joelinton and Joe Willock both scoring for the Magpies’ after Josh Dasilva’s red card.

Finally, Matty Cash and Ollie Watkins found the net as Aston Villa emerged victorious 2-0 at Brighton to extend their unbeaten away run over the Seagulls in the Premier League to three matches.
