Cardiff City welcome Derby County to Cardiff City Stadium in a rearranged Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory would lift Cardiff up to 18th in the table, whereas Derby can climb above Barnsley into 22nd with a win.
Team News
Cardiff manager, Steve Morison could rotate his squad depending on availability after several players missed Saturday’s home loss against Fulham through illness.
Max Watters (ankle), Curtis Nelson (leg) and Sean Morrison (knee) remains absent.
Derby have no fresh injury concerns to report as Kamil Jozwiak (ankle) and Tom Lawrence (suspension) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Cardiff are unbeaten in seven of their last eight meetings against Derby (W3, D3, L1).
- Derby have won just one of their last five visits to Cardiff (W1, D1, L3).
- Both teams have scored in four of their last five meetings.
- Aden Flint has been yellow carded in each of Cardiff’s last two home matches.
- With 34 goals in 34 matches, Derby have scored more goals out of the three teams currently sat in the Championship relegation zone.
Prediction
Despite missing several players on Saturday through illness, Cardiff can take heart from their performance because they still managed to take the fight to Fulham across 90 minutes, which is no mean feat given the Cottagers’ superior quality.
Derby meanwhile endured their own fighting display away at Luton on Saturday because despite being outclassed, they did limit the Hatters to just four shots on target and an eventual one goal loss but they need to find their clinical edge quickly if to survive.
This match though is a must-win for Wayne Rooney’s Rams because if they lose here, it is hard to see them staying up but Cardiff’s squad availability could play into their hands if the Bluebirds still are missing several regulars.
Prediction: Cardiff 1-2 Derby
Result: Cardiff 1-0 Derby
