Premier League Announce Rescheduling of Six Matches In March 2022

Premier League officials have confirmed the rearrangement of six matches for March 2022, whilst three further matches are rescheduled due to fixture implications.

Three matches have been rescheduled for Thursday 10 March with Southampton’s home clash against Newcastle and Watford’s visit to Wolves both set for 7:30pm GMT kick-offs, albeit untelevised on UK TV as was the original intention in their original matchweeks.

Newcastle’s trip to Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium was initially scheduled for Sunday 2 January, yet a mix of Coronavirus cases and injuries within Newcastle squad forced the league to postpone the match.

Wolves’ home game against Watford meanwhile was originally set for Boxing Day, until the Hornets’ request for postponement due to positive Coronavirus cases was accepted on Thursday 23 December.

Leeds meanwhile will host Aston Villa on the same evening at Elland Road from 7:45pm GMT, exclusively live on Amazon Prime, by virtue of originally featuring in the festive Bank Holiday matchweek broadcast live on Amazon.

That particular game was postponed due to extensive amount of positive Coronavirus cases within Leeds’ squad.

As a consequence, the following three fixtures from Matchweek 29 have been delayed 23 hours from Saturday 12 March to Sunday 13 February, and will now kick off at 2pm GMT;

  • Everton vs Wolves
  • Leeds vs Norwich
  • Southampton vs Watford

Two further matches have been rescheduled for Wednesday 16 March as Tottenham visit Brighton in an untelevised 7:30pm GMT kick-off at the AMEX Stadium, whilst Arsenal host Liverpool live on Sky Sports that same evening in a 8:15pm GMT kick-off at Emirates Stadium.

Everton’s clash against Newcastle at Goodison Park originally pencilled in for Thursday 30 December will now take place on Thursday 17 March, exclusively live on Amazon in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off.

Frank Lampard’s Toffees will consequently play a potential FA Cup Quarter-Final on Sunday 20 March, providing that they defeat Boreham Wood first in the Fifth Round on Thursday 3 March live on ITV.
