2021-22 Premier League: Week 26 – Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City continue their title chase with a blockbuster home clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Etihad Stadium. 

Depending on how Liverpool fare against Norwich in a mid-afternoon kick-off, victory could see Man City stretch their lead to 12 points.

Tottenham meanwhile can go seventh until Sunday evening at minimum with a win.

Gabriel Jesus could return for Man City after a knock kept him out of their last four matches.

Zack Steffen (unspecified) could also be in contention but Jack Grealish (shin) is unlikely to be risked as Cole Palmer (unspecified) and Benjamin Mendy (personal) remain absent.

Tottenham could welcome Eric Dier back from a knock which saw him miss their last three matches.

Oliver Skipp (groin) could also feature but Japhet Tanganga (hamstring) remains ruled out.

Prediction

With nine goals in their last two matches this past week without conceding, Man City come here in top form and if they continue to play like they are doing, I genuinely can’t see them not winning this by a comfortable margin.

Tottenham meanwhile were lacklustre across the pitch on and off the ball in their loss to Wolves, which saw Spurs consequently displaced by their Midlands rivals in the fight for seventh, so a reaction here is a must with every player stepping up with more pressing and tighter defending.

Now if Tottenham do turn up with a huge improvement then we will have a game on our hands but if they continue where they finished last weekend, this should be an one-sided result.
