Formula One bosses have officially confirmed plans for two rounds of pre-season testing ahead of 2022 season.
F1 teams will gather at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain between 23-25 February for a private three-day pre-season test consisting of two sessions per day across all three days of the first test.
This means that there won’t be live TV coverage or live timing but teams will post content throughout each day across their social media channels, whilst F1 will release timings plus further content at end of afternoon running on each day.
Fans will also not be permitted to attend the test with no tickets to be made available to spectators unlike previous years.
A fortnight break will then take place to allow teams to evaluate their data ahead of the second and final pre-season test, which will be held at Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir, Bahrain from 10-12 March just a week before the season commences at that venue.
The second pre-season test in Bahrain will follow the same format as the first test plus also see live TV coverage and timing take place like in 2021, whilst fans will be allowed to attend this test unlike the behind closed doors approach taken in Barcelona.
Mercedes though will hold their own private shakedown at Silverstone on 18 February after unveiling their car in a digital event, as F1 prepares for a new era of technical regulations and car design.
When will Teams Unveil Their 2022 Car?
Aston Martin will be the first team to officially unveil their 2022 car for the new season with an online event on Thursday 10 February.
McLaren will be the next team to launch their car on Friday 11 February before AlphaTauri, Ferrari and Mercedes unveil their 2022 challengers on 14, 17 and 18 February respectively.
Alpine will officially launch their car on 21 February just two days before the first day of pre-season testing but Red Bull, Williams, Alfa Romeo and Haas are yet to unveil their pre-season car launch plans.
