2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 27 – Tuesday

Fulham welcome Birmingham City to Craven Cottage in a rearranged midweek clash in 2021-22 Sky Bet Championship.

Victory would move Fulham five points clear of second-placed Bournemouth at the top of the table, whereas Birmingham City could go 16th with a win.

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s comeback 6-2 win against Bristol City, although Aleksandr Mitrovic and Tosin Adarabioyo could be amongst those rested for this game if Marco Silva rotates his squad.

Ivan Cavaleiro (groin) and Jean-Michael Seri (international duty) both remain absent.

Birmingham have no fresh injury concerns following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Preston North End.

Jordan Graham (leg), Ivan Sanchez (pelvis), Matija Sarkic (shoulder), Tahith Chong (thigh) and Harlee Dean (muscle) remain absent.

• Fulham have won four of their last five league meetings against Birmingham City (W4, L1).
• Birmingham City are unbeaten in four of their last six visits to Craven Cottage (W2, D2, L2).
• Fulham have conceded just once and scored six goals in their last three league meetings against Birmingham (W3), despite winning two of those three games by 1-0 results.
• Marco Silva’s Cottagers have kept just one clean sheet in their last five home matches (W2, D2, L1).
• Four of Scott Hogan’s seven league goals for Birmingham City this season have been scored away from St Andrew’s Stadium.

 

Prediction

Having scored 13 goals in their first two league matches in 2022, Fulham come into this match in strong form in attack yet were twice caught out defensively on the counter against Bristol City, which surely has to be something that Birmingham could exploit here.

Birmingham though did well to take the fight to Preston at Deepdale on Saturday but they must bring that same quality and performance here, otherwise this could be a long evening if Fulham get the first goal.

In fact if Fulham score early on and can seize control, I can see just one way traffic and an easy result coming.
