West Ham United have announced their pre-season plans ahead of 2021-22 campaign with four friendlies confirmed at present.
Having spent pre-season based at St Andrews, Scotland, ahead of their historic 2020-21 season in which they set a new club-best Premier League points total of 65 points en route to sixth place, David Moyes’ Hammers will again return to the Lowlands based county for a week-long training camp.
West Ham will then commence their friendly fixtures on Tuesday 13 July 2021 with a double header away at Northampton Town and Leyton Orient of League Two, with the first-team squad split in order to ensure that all players get an equal chance of playing time.
Both matches at Sixfields and Brisbane Road respectively will kick off at 7pm BST that evening.
West Ham will then visit Reading of Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday 21 July in a 7pm BST kick-off at Madejski Stadium, as the Royals test themselves against top-flight opposition after narrowly missing out on the second-tier promotion play-offs this season.
David Moyes’ Hammers three days later will return north as they visit Celtic at Celtic Park, Glasgow, with the friendly scheduled for a 3pm BST kick-off.
The club however has warned that away ticket allocations for all four friendlies are dependent on Coronavirus protocols, meaning that no details are available at present until the UK Government announces further changes and the hosting clubs agree on ticket allocations with local Safety Advisory Groups (SAG).
Their friendly against Celtic however will adhere to Scottish Government rules which is currently acting with further caution on the topic of returning fans to football stadiums than their English counterparts.
West Ham also confirmed that further friendly fixtures plus pre-season details would be announced in due course once confirmed.
The new 2021-22 Premier League season is scheduled to get underway from the weekend of 13-16 August, with West Ham set to participate in the UEFA Europa League from September once the competition enters the Group Stage.
