Burnley have confirmed that Robbie Brady will leave the club this summer upon expiry of his contract.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the Clarets in January 2017 from Norwich City and went on to help the club finish seventh in the 2017-18 Premier League season and qualify for UEFA Europa League, before a series of injuries saw Brady struggle for form throughout the remainder of his time at Turf Moor.

Reflecting upon his time at the club, Brady spoke positively of his experience, saying; “I’ve loved every minute and I’m really going to miss the lads. They have been a massive part of my career and I’ve made friends who I will hold onto for a long, long time. In that respect everything has been great.”

Brady though admitted that he felt that he ‘was almost reaching the peak’ in his game when he suffered a knee injury, which sidelined him for 11 months and felt that the journey back to full fitness was ‘difficult’ due to the ‘magnitude’ of his knee injury.

Since resuming full fitness, Brady though has gone on to record 87 overall appearances and six goals for Burnley across both sides of his lengthy knee injury before his 2020-21 season was curtailed early by an Achilles injury.

Brady though confessed that he felt that his spell at Turf Moor has overall bee quite ‘stop start’ as he wishes that his playing career had been more smoother, especially after backing himself to do his best and help out his teammates when required but leaves feeling that the experience has been “… a big learning curve for me.”

Looking ahead to the future as he commences his search for a new club, Brady added; “I feel in a good place physically and mentally and I’m ready for a new challenge ahead now.”

The 29 year-old also paid tribute to his teammates and fans, commenting; “I just want to thank the lads and thank everyone for giving me this opportunity. I learned a hell of a lot over the last few years and a lot about myself.

“I also want to thank the fans for making me feel so welcome. It’s such a family club and they get right behind the lads as we’ve seen over the last few seasons.

Burnley manager, Sean Dyche meanwhile praised Brady for being ‘a credit to himself and a good servant’ to the club in playing his part for the club when fully match fit, despite experiencing an ‘incredibly unfortunate’ run of injuries and wished the midfielder well for his future.

Burnley have confirmed that Brady will remain with the club as he completes his rehabilitation on an Achilles injury and ensure full fitness for when he moves to his next club.
