2020-21 Scottish Cup: Fourth Round Roundup

Celtic’s title defence came to an end in a packed Fourth Round of 2020-21 Scottish Cup.

Steven Davis gave Rangers a 10th minute lead in the Old Firm derby as he delivered a overhead kick after Joe Aribo’s kick was deflected into the air, before victory was sealed 15 minutes later when Aribo’s cross was deflected in by Jonjoe Kenny for an own goal.

Rangers therefore advance and will host St Johnstone after the latter defeated Clyde 2-0 at McDiarmid Park through early first half strikes from Guy Melamed and Michael O’Halloran.

Celtic meanwhile have seen their reign as four-time consecutive champions ended as they prepare to rebuild ahead of next season.

Aberdeen knocked out Livingston 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at Pittodrie, having twice fought back through goals from Niall McGinn and Florian Kamberi to cancel out Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’ eventual brace for the visitors.

Dundee United will now visit Aberdeen in the Quarter-Finals after Peter Pawlett’s low rifled shot proved enough to defeat Scottish League One’s Forfar Athletic at Station Park.

Hibernian ran riot in a dominant four goal win away at Scottish League Two’s Stranraer, as Christian Doidge and Kevin Nisbet both scored before Martin Boyle’s brace wrapped up a clinical win.

Motherwell will visit Hibernian after defeating Greenock Morton 5-3 on penalties as Sean McGinty missed his penalty for the visitors, following a 1-1 draw at Fir Park.

Following a scrappy contest at Fir Park, Stephen O’Donnell looked to have snatched a 121st minute winner for The Well until Markus Fjortoft equalised two minutes later to force spot kicks.

Marcus Fraser’s late strike completed a comeback win for St Mirren after Kristian Dennis cancelled out Nikolay Todorov’s flicked close-range opener for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in a competitive clash at St Mirren Park.

Jim Goodwin’s Saints will head to Rugby Park after Kilmarnock thrashed Montrose 3-1,  with Kyle Lafferty and Greg Kiltie combining for two of their three goals either side of Mitchell Pinnock’s curled effort before Cameron Ballantyne scored a late consolation goal for the visitors.
