NetApp Signs New Partnership with Aston Martin

Data-centric software company, NetApp have signed a multi-year partnership with Aston Martin ahead of 2021 Formula One season.

Aston Martin’s decision to partner NetApp comes just two days before they unveil their 2021 F1 car, in a move which underlines the team’s commitment to unlocking their car’s potential and maximising performance with improved data and cloud services on and off the racetrack.

Aston Martin’s main hope from this partnership however is to ‘extract more value’ in race data to gather clearer information on car performance and enable tweaks if necessary throughout each Grand Prix.

NetApp’s involvement also offers hope of reducing the many complexities involved in operating the team, whilst ensuring that Aston Martin’s intellectual property is protected alongside security and data compliance of the team as a whole.

It is also expected that NetApp’s platforms will help Aston Martin maximise their resources and remove ‘inefficient’ data isolation, which in turn would enable financial saving to be diverted back into development of the car and team as budget caps come in from this season onwards.

NetApp Chief Marketing Officer, James Whitemore spoke of how ‘thrilled’ the company is to commence this partnership, describing the team’s focus on data as ‘a highly ambitious data journey in pursuit of greater seed, higher reliability and unmatched efficiency.’

Whitemore also spoke of how the team can help Aston Martin, saying: “By tapping into our 28 years of data-centric innovation, we are proudly supporting the team as it pushes the boundaries of continuous performance improvement beyond the finish line.”

Aston Martin Team Principal, Otmar Szafnauer hailing this deal as one that marks ‘a new stage; in the team’s aim to push forward in their bid to make their operations ‘faster and smarter’, as Aston Martin continues to ‘constantly evolve’ in their bid to reach the front of the F1 grid

NetApp will now join a wide selection of partners for Aston Martin including new title partner – Cognizant and BWT who signed a new deal last week.
