Barcelona meet Aston Villa in a blockbuster league phase showdown in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League.
Victory could see Barcelona climb to the summit of the table if Stuttgart lose in the early kick-off then they win this match by a two-goal margin at minimum, whilst Villa likewise can go top with a win.
Team News
Barcelona have no fresh injury concerns after their 6-1 victory at Alaves in La Liga last Saturday (31 October).
Jules Kounde, Xavi Espart (both ankle), Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia (both thigh), Dani Olmo (adductor) and Roony Bardghji (cruciate ligament) are ruled out.
Villa have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw at home to Fulham in the Premier League.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Brian Madjo and Modou Keba Cisse are ineligible for selection, whilst Matteo Ruggeri, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (both hamstring) and Amadou Onana (ACL) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Barcelona host Villa at Nou Camp on Tuesday 3 November at 9pm CEST (8pm BST), live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Barcelona’s first Champions League meeting against Villa.
- Villa are winless in two previous visits to Barcelona in all UEFA competitions (L2), having lost 2-1 in March 1978 in UEFA Cup then 1-0 in January 1983 in UEFA Super Cup.
- Barcelona are yet to keep a clean sheet in this season’s league phase (W2, L1).
- Ross Barkley has scored three goals in Villa’s last two league phase matches (W2).
Prediction
Despite their defensive injury crisis, there is no doubting Barcelona’s attacking quality as they ruthlessly ripped Alaves apart and I honestly expect more of the same from them given that they’re at home.
Villa meanwhile will of been disappointed to had drawn against Fulham through an unfortunate own-goal in a pretty tight contest, but they were ultimately wasteful with just three of 16 shots converted onto target as they can’t afford to do that here or Barcelona will absolutely punish them.
Unai Emery’s Villa therefore need to be solid and clinical if they’re to capitalise on Barcelona’s defensive vulnerabilities, but I just think that the hosts will be too strong.
Prediction: Barcelona 3-1 Aston Villa
