Norwich City continue to sit atop of the Sky Bet Championship on a weekend in which the play-off race took centre stage.

Goals from Teemu Pukki and Adam Idah gave Norwich victory away at rock-bottom Wycombe, meaning that the Canaries remain second points clear at the summit.

Second half goals from Vitaly Janelt and Ivan Toney saw Brentford come from behind to record consecutive wins, having fallen behind to Jacob Brown’s strike after just 27 seconds from a poor pass by David Raya to Tommy Smith who pulled back for Brown’s opener.

Watford remain third but slipped three points behind the Bees after Arnaut Danjuma volleyed Bournemouth to victory and sixth position, despite Joao Pedro and Jack Wilshire seeing red for their respective teams in injury time following a mass brawl.

Swansea however failed to take advantage of the Hornets’ loss despite Andre Ayew’s penalty putting them ahead against Bristol City, only for Nakhi Wells, Kasey Palmer and Antoine Semenyo to strike back to gift the Robins victory in their first official game under new manager – Nigel Pearson.

Michael Morrison’s 26th minute poke-in proved enough for Reading to defeat third-bottom Rotherham at the New York Stadium, thus ending the Royals two match losing run as they continue to cling onto fifth.

Just outside the play-off spots, Cardiff found themselves held to a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough after Paddy McNair’s left post tap-in cancelled out Sean Morrison’s header from Will Vaulks’ long throw in.

Barnsley consequently punished the Bluebirds’ failure to take all three points on Teesside as Michal Helik’s smasher gifted them victory over Millwall at Oakwell to go seventh, despite seeing Cauley Woodrow’s second minute volley cancelled out by Mason Bennett’s counter strike just minutes later.

Elsewhere, Josh Windass’ first half brace wasn’t enough to give second-bottom Sheffield Wednesday a win at Luton, as the Hatters fought back in a stunning second-half display to win a dramatic five goal thriller at Kenilworth Road.

Late goals from Kristian Pedersen and Alen Halilovic saw Birmingham City move five points clear of the relegation zone, as the Brummies came from behind to defeat QPR at St Andrews’ after Charlie Austin had fired the Hoops ahead on the volley just before half-time.

Preston claimed their first home win of 2021 as Brad Potts scored and assisted in a dominant 3-0 win over Huddersfield at Deepdale.

Colin Kazim-Richards’ 84th minute volley rescued Derby a point in the East Midlands derby at Pride Park to cancel out James Garner’s opening strike for Nottingham Forest.

Finally, Matty James volleyed in from Tyler Walker’s headed pass to snatch a point for Coventry at Ewood Park after Ben Brereton fired Blackburn ahead in the 27th minute from Ryan Nyambe’s pass.
