HWA Racelab have announced that Oliver Rasmussen completes their driver line-up for 2021 Formula Three season.

Rasmussen makes the step up after a successful 2020 Formula Regional European Championship (FREC), in which he finished third for PREMA.

The Danish driver first drove a F3 car in October as he tested for Hitech GP, HWA and PREMA across two post-season tests, before eventually settling for a HWA race seat after PREMA and Hitech GP finalised their driver line-ups in recent weeks.

Speaking on his graduation to F3, Rasmussen said: “Participating in FIA Formula 3 is a milestone in my career. Together with HWA we will do our best to be competitive.”

On his aim for this season, the 20 year-old said: “I hope we grow in strength together and emerge from the coming season as one of the best teams and me as one of the best drivers.”

HWA Racelab Team Principal, Thomas Strick is delighted to sign Rasmussen, speaking of his six wins and six podiums in FREC as a record that ‘speak for themselves’ and shows Rasmussen’s potential to produce quality performances.

Strick has also vowed to help support Rasmussen this season, saying: “We will support him as well as possible, to allow him to make the most of this huge potential out on the track.”

Rasmussen’s arrival completes HWA’s driver-lineup after the team confirmed Rafael Villagomez yesterday, as the duo join Matteo Nannini who will be driving a duel campaign across F2 and F3 this season for HWA.

Pre-season testing will begin in Spain later this month with a two day test in Jerez, followed by Barcelona across 16-17 March and concludes in Austria on 3 & 4 April at Red Bull Ring, with the season commencing on 7 May in Barcelona.
