Manchester United welcome Everton to Old Trafford in Saturday Night Football from the Premier League.
Utd can again draw level with Manchester City at the summit with victory, whereas Everton could go fifth with victory if West Ham fail to win at Fulham on Saturday teatime.
Team News
Edinson Cavani is a doubt for Man Utd after suffering an ankle injury in Tuesday’s nine goal mauling of Southampton.
Eric Bailly is a doubt with a knock whilst Phil Jones meanwhile is still sidelined by a knee injury, but is focused on rebuilding his fitness after opting for surgery on his injury.
Everton could welcome Jordan Pickford back from a rib injury which forced him to sit out Wednesday’s win at Leeds.
Allan (hamstring) could also be in contention but Jean-Phillipe Gbamin (calf) is still ruled out.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have lost just one of their last five league meetings against Everton (W2, D2, L1).
- Everton are winless in their last six trips to Old Trafford (D2, L4).
- There has been five red cards in 57 previous Premier League meetings between Man Utd and Everton, with the Red Devils seeing two players red carded compared to Everton’s three.
- Coming into this matchweek, no defender has produced more assists than the six produced by Toffees’ Lucas Digne.
- 11 of Bruno Fernandes’ 12 league goals this season have come on his right foot.
Prediction
Man Utd were simply ruthless in their midweek win over Southampton although I felt that they relied on crosses from the flanks more in terms of creating their chances than passing play, which won’t help them much here against a robust Everton defence.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees however need to turn up with the same quality and effort which we saw at Leeds on Wednesday, because if the Everton that lost to Newcastle last Saturday turns up then this could be an one-sided match.
I however can see Ancelotti deploying the same tactics which we saw on Wednesday because Utd will certainly be keen to continue their strong momentum, especially heading into a tricky FA Cup clash against West Ham on Tuesday.
Everton however will have to be clinical with their chances and defend well if want a result here, otherwise I can see Man Utd cruising to a routine win here with one eye on that FA Cup game.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Everton
Result: Manchester United 3-3 Everton
