2020-21 Premier League: Week 21 – Leicester vs Leeds

Leicester City welcome Leeds United to the King Power Stadium in a mid-afternoon Super Sunday clash.

After Manchester United drew at Arsenal on Saturday teatime, Leicester will go second with victory whilst Leeds will stay 12th regardless of result.

Jonny Evans is in contention to start for Leicester after recovering from a minor issue suffered during Wednesday’s draw at Everton.

Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring), Wes Morgan (back) and Jamie Vardy (hernia) could return next weekend but Dennis Praet (hamstring) is still sidelined until spring.

Leeds will be without Diego Llorente after the Spanish defender suffered a muscle injury in Tuesday’s away win at Newcastle.

Gaetano Berardi, Robin Koch (both knee) and Adam Forshaw (hip) remain absent.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester are unbeaten in three of last five Premier League meetings against Leeds (W2, D1, L2).
  • Leeds have won two of last five Premier League trips to Leicester, of which just one clash came at the King Power Stadium in September 2003 won 4-0 by the Foxes (W2, L3).
  • Leicester haven’t had a player sent off in 17 previous Premier League clashes against Leeds.
  • Three of Leeds’ 32 league goals this season has come from the penalty spot.
  • Leicester’s Jonny Evans has won 56 aerial battles, more than any other Foxes’ player this season so far in the Premier League.

Prediction

Leicester produced a cracking performance at Everton but a point apiece was a deserved result given the Toffees’ tough defending, whilst the Foxes wasted several opportunities through rash decision making when it came to the end product.

Leeds meanwhile were dominant in attack at Newcastle in midweek but their passing from throw-ins cannot be ignored because the play was sloppy at times, yet they were absolutely on top of the Magpies throughout with Raphinha in particular proving troublesome for the hosts to keep on top of.

Inconsistency though has been Leeds’ biggest issue in recent months but they have proven that they can nick goals here and there when opportunities arise, although I can’t see them winning this if Leicester turn up with another cracking display but only this time with more clinical end product.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Leeds

Result: Leicester 1-3 Leeds
