Manchester City to Continue Supporting Coronavirus Battle

Manchester City have announced that they will continue to support the battle against Coronavirus, following the launch of a new Coronavirus vaccination centre at the Etihad Campus.

This announcement comes as the UK Government unveiled seven new mass vaccination hubs would be set up across the country, with City’s Etihad Campus amongst selected venues.

This latest development compliments City’s support for the NHS since forming a partnership with Manchester City Council and NHS to enable a wide range of activities from drive-through testing to serving as a hub for click & collect shopping and even immunisation clinics for young children.

Speaking on the latest development concerning the new vaccination centre, Manchester City Operations’ Managing Director, Danny Wilson said; “These past months have been extremely challenging for the people of Greater Manchester and the confirmation that a vaccination centre will open at the Etihad Campus is welcome news for everyone.”

Wilson also commented on the close work between Man City and Campus partners to ensure right support is in place to ensure the NHS can ‘successfully deliver its vaccination programme…” whilst continuing to support Manchester’s recovery in long-term as intended from the start of this pandemic.

Chief Officer for Manchester’s Health and Social Care Partnership, Sarah Price is delighted with the club’s support, saying; “The support from the Etihad Campus and Manchester City has been key to enabling us to set up this service so quickly for the people of Greater Manchester.”

The site is set to open in the coming days with Price praising the work between local healthcare staff alongside those at the Etihad Campus, ensuring that ‘staff are trained and ready to go.”

City have also confirmed that onsite operations will be in place throughout the programme with the Etihad Stadium also open for training of nurses and staff who will run the vaccination centre.”

Manchester Councillor, Bev Craig who is an executive member for the city’s adult health and well-being service praised the Citizens’ assistance in this programme, saying; “Manchester City’s support in ensuring the Etihad Campus is available as a mass vaccination site represents a significant step to moving back to normality…”

Jacqui Burrow who is the Programme Director for the Vaccination Centre spoke of the important support from local partners, including City as she described it as a “true example of collaborative working at its best.”

These current developments won’t affect City’s current footballing activities which are entirely separate to this mass vaccination programme, with the vaccinations taking place in the Tennis and Football Centre located next door to the main stadium.

City are next at home to Brighton on Wednesday 13 January 2021 in a 6:00pm (GMT) kick-off.
